Evelyn and Caitlyn combined for one save to secure another shutout victory for Inferno 12 girls with a 6-0 thumping of NOS Santos on Saturday morning.  It was back in forth in the early stages of the game but in the 17th minute, Emma took a shot that the goalkeeper just got enough of to knock it off the post.  30 seconds later, Emma fed Anastasia who took a shot that the keeper made a great save on to keep it at 0-0 but Inferno was knocking on the door.  It was only a matter of time before they would kick it in.

Another minute later, Addie intercepted a pass in the middle and delivered the ball to Emma, who made a turn in traffic and split the defense.  A couple of seconds later, the ball was in the back of the net giving Inferno the first goal of the game and sent them off to the races.  Emma would score the second goal of the game off of another assist from Addie, this time going to her right and slipping the ball past the goalie for the 2-0 lead.  The third goal of the game started back on the defensive side of the field when Maddie launched a pass just over the head of a Santos player and right on to the foot of Izzy who saw the goalkeeper off of her line and put the ball over her head and into the goal.

With the score 3-0 at halftime, Inferno would match that in the second half with three more.  Two minutes into the second frame, Izzy would steal the ball from a Santos defender and bury it into the goal for their fourth of the game.  A few minutes later, Paylie applied some pressure that would force a bad pass that Olivia intercepted at midfield.  She weaved left and then right and then unleashed a cannon from the top of the circle that went over the keepers head and right under the cross bar for a 5-0 lead. The 6th and final goal of the game showed just how quickly Inferno can strike.   Olivia took a goal kick that Addie deflected over to Emma who carried the ball in on the breakaway for the hat trick.  It took 8 seconds and three touches.

Even scoring 6 goals, the story is the defense.  Olivia, Evelyn, Caitlyn, Maddie, and Irelynn continue to shut the door on any threat to their clean sheet and continue to get the ball up the sideline for Paylie and Lainey to cross the ball into the center where the midfielders and strikers can do the real damage.

This trend will have to continue this weekend when Inferno hosts Brazas on Friday night and then travels to Synergy on Saturday afternoon.  Brazas is currently 1-1 but beat Inferno last season 3-2.  Synergy is 3-0 and have a +25 goal differential.  This weekend will go along way to determining who will have a chance to move up into the Advanced League next season...And don't forget Boo Fest on Sunday.  Should be a fun and busy weekend.  See you all there.
